Dr. Whitney received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota School of Kinesiology. He and his wife Lynn have eight children and have home educated their children since 1987. Dr. Whitney is the author of two books on physical education for home educators. They are Home School Family Fitness: A Complete Curriculum Guide and Physical Education For Homeschool Co-ops and Private Schools.
Dr. Whitney's professional experiences include teaching at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels. His responsibilities have included being an intramural director, a day camp director, and a coach for a variety of sports. As a college professor he was involved in training future teachers in physical education. He has gained a cross-cultural perspective to sport and fitness while teaching at the University of the Philippines, Manila. He has taught physical education in three home school co-ops. His insights come from years of teaching experience as a professional and as a parent. Dr. Whitney has lead workshops on physical education at the state conventions in Iowa, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He is available to do workshops on physical education for homeschool families and co-ops. He has also written an article for the Minnesota Paper MACHE periodical on the purposes of physical education in a home school setting.
