Basketball Lesson Plans
These are suggested lesson plans reflect an overall plan of starting class with muscle strengthening and aerobic activity before skill teaching. My experience is students run into class full of energy with the exception to run. The first ten minutes of class is intend to burn off this energy in fatiguing activity. Students are better listeners while they are fatigued and resting. The plans reflect a pattern of a short demonstration/teaching then a more active drill, followed by another short demonstration/teaching time. The drills and games may be changed to better meet the limitations of equipment, facility or student skill level. Ten foot baskets are too high for k-2 students. If eight foot baskets are not available then substituting trash can for the baskets is a useful tool.
